After all of the votes were tallied from this morning’s services, with a 93 percent affirmative vote, it is with great excitement and anticipation of all God has planned in the days ahead that we announce Pastor Kevin Miller as the new Senior Pastor.

Last Thursday evening, Pastor Kevin Miller was interviewed for the position of Senior Pastor at Hebron Baptist Church. During the interview, the team was able to see that he has a great passion to communicate the gospel, tremendous leadership skills, a love for our church and community and is a wonderful person as a whole.  They felt his greatest asset was his keen realization of his need to depend on God.

After much prayer, soul searching, and seeking God’s face, the Pastor Selection Team voted unanimously to present Pastor Kevin to the church this past Sunday morning, March 13.

Next Sunday, March 20, as mandated in the Hebron Baptist Church by-laws, Ron Riley, Vice Chairman of the Leadership Team, will call the church into a business meeting and each member that is in attendance, who are in good standing, and at least 16 years of age, will be encouraged to vote yes or no on the proposed candidate. Members must be present in the Worship Center to cast a ballot.  No proxy or absentee voting will be allowed.

The results of the votes from both morning services should be available by the end of the 11:00 service. If you are not in attendance at the 11:00 service, the results will be posted on the website very early Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, February 27, the church unanimously elected a Pastor Selection Team to lead the church in selecting a new Senior Pastor. The members of that team are Flip Johnson, Wayne Magness, Frank McKinney, Wayne Wallis and Cayce Waters. Please be in prayer for this team as they search for our new Senior Pastor. The team has already met and has begun the process of praying and seeking God’s direction for their search.  

When they are ready to present a prospective Senior Pastor to the church, an announcement will be made during a Sunday morning worship service.  This announcement will be made at least a week in advance of the team presenting the candidate to the church for a vote.

In accordance with the church bylaws “…the Senior Pastor Selection Team shall recommend a man to the church for approval or disapproval by written ballot.  Only one name will be considered at a time.”

The Pastor Selection Team also has agreed the church would be given an opportunity to hear any candidate for Senior Pastor preach before they are voted on by the church.

Also, please be in prayer for the church staff as they continue to serve the church just as they have in the past.  All of the church ministries will go on without interruption during this time of transition.
